Creation of SOMADIR as a production unit and distributor of glycerine and alcohol.

1954

GERMA, the first yeast production company

SOMADIR specialises in fresh yeast production and become the first yeast producer in Morocco under the name GERMA.

1970

30000 tons

SOMADIR’s production capacity reaches 30000 tons per year.

1991

El Jadida plant

Extension of Casablanca plant’s capacity and construction of a new production unit in El Jadida.

1998

LEYENDA, the bread improver

Diversification if its product range through the introduction, for the first time in the Moroccan market, of “Leyenda”, a bread improver.

2001

ISO 9001 compliant

SOMADIR becomes ISO 9001 version 2000 certified for the production and sales of fresh yeast.

2005

Investments

SOMADIR made some important investments to upgrade its production system and put it on par with the highest international standards.

2008

New instant dry yeast unit

Construction of a new instant dry yeast unit in Casablanca industrial site.

2010

ISO 9001 version 2008

Updating of ISO 9001 certification from version 2000 to version 2008 and extension of the field to include instant dry yeast.

2012

ISO 22000

ISO 22000 certification project.

2016/2017

Development of SOMADIR

Extension of the production capacity of SOMADIR.
